It's been a while since I posted anything to the old blog so I decided I would write about my dinner tonight. A few days ago I saw an article in the USA Today which was soon followed by a television blitz all about Subway offering their Turkey & Bacon Avocado sandwich again. I actually was going to try one of them several months ago but found they weren't on the menu by the time I got around to it. So now that they're most definitely on the menu I walked to the Subway near my house and ordered a footlong—total cost just under $10 with tax.
What I quickly learned was that avocados must be as valuable as gold because rather than put a couple of healthy slices on my sandwich, the Sandwich Artist spread a very thin layer of avocado paste on one half of my sandwich. I'm not kidding when I say that there ended up being more of every other item I requested on the sandwich than there was avocado.
The sandwich was pretty good but definitely not worth $10. I think the last time I was at Costco they were selling bags of 6 avocados for a few dollars less than what I paid for my entire sandwich... perhaps someone needs to clue-in Subway that they can either be a lot more generous with the 'cado or they can stop charging so damn much for it.
